20% of Hungarian pensioners would work at least part-time - GKI

80% of Hungarian pensioners would not undertake income-generating activities at all, while 11% would prefer a part-time job, according to a representative survey by economic think tank GKI published on Monday.
There are 2.5 million people of retirement age in Hungary, of whom 2 million receive old-age pension. As GKI found, only 2% could see themselves doing a full-time job, with a further 2% voting for telecommuting and 5% would work flexible hours.

The 20% rate of pensioners who would work is the same across the board regardless of gender or place of residence.

Among pensioners below 60 years of age, nearly two-third intend to find work, dropping to 24% in the 60 to 70 age group (where 60% of pensioners belong) and just 8% above 70.
