Laura Papi is Deputy Director in the European Department of the International Monetary Fund. In the European department, oversees the work on 10 European countries (including Hungary, Spain, the UK, and Türkiye) and several topics, such as climate, energy, and corporate sector issues. She has over 30 years of work experience, 27 of which at the IMF. She has worked on many countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa and was IMF mission chief for several countries, such as India, Portugal, and South Africa. She also led the Regional Economic Outlook Report for Europe (2016–2021). She has worked on a broad range of topics and has recently focused on energy, inflation, and corporate sector issues. She also was Associate Director at Deutsche Bank, London, in Emerging Market Research focusing on Türkiye and Emerging Europe (1997–2000). She holds a Ph. D. from Warwick University (UK).
