Speakers of GKI’s business conference held on 26 March will focus on the EU’s crisis management experience, the Hungarian business environment and the credibility of economic policy . GKI has organized conferences attracting large audiences for ten years. This year’s conference, marking the 20th anniversary of the foundation of GKI Economic Research Co., will be an international one. The conference seeks to answer questions such as: Can Hungary avoid the excessive deficit procedure? Can personnel changes bring meaningful changes in economic policy? How can Hungary stop lagging behind the countries in the CEE region? What factors may boost economic growth and employment? The opening lecture is delivered by Elena Flores , Director of DG ECFIN, European Commission, on the EU’s crisis management experience.András Kármán , EBRD Director (state secretary of the Ministry for National Economy in 2010-2011) compares the effectiveness of various crisis management methods applied in our region. A representative of the Hungarian government has been asked to give a presentation on the Hungarian experience. The Hungarian business environment and its trends are discussed by László Molnár (CEO, GKI), Radovan Jelasity (Chairman of the Board of Directors, Erste Bank), László Parragh (President, Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and György Wáberer (Chairman-CEO, Waberer’s International Pte. Co.). The transformation of the labour market in the crisis is the topic of a separate presentation given by László Andor , Commissioner of the European Commission. Afterwards, an exciting round table discussion on credibility and the credit is held with the following participants: Péter Ákos Bod, Csaba Kákosy, László Urbán and András Vértes . Moderator: István Madár . The closing lecture entitled “Some features of a new economic policy" is delivered by former Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai . The closing remarks of the chair of the conference László Akar (GCEO GKI) ends the programme.
