Eric Clurfain most recent position was General Manager of MetLife Alico Turkey, based in Istanbul. He was appointed to this position in January 2009. Since he joined the operation in Turkey, Eric played a critical role in reshaping the company’s strategic direction and reaching a leadership position in the high growth potential Turkish market. Eric successfully led the recent acquisition of Deniz Emeklilik, which now positions MetLife as a Top 5 player, with a strong bancassurance and pension presence. In addition, Eric’s role was pivotal in diversifying the company’s existing distribution channels, by establishing a Direct Marketing platform (through a strategic partnership with Carrefour), and implementing a consolidation and rationalization strategy of the Agency channel, to adapt to the changing external market and regulatory environment. Eric Clurfain began his career at AIG in 1998 as a Management Associate in New York, prior to moving to South America in 2001, where he held several local and regional management positions with AIG. He joined AIG Life in Argentina, based in Buenos Aires, in a Group Insurance regional role for Latin America. He then relocated to Mexico City where he worked for AIG Mexico as Group Insurance deputy Director and was subsequently appointed Director of Credit Life and Bancassurance. Eric returned to New York in 2005, as CEO of Global Solutions for United Healthcare, before rejoining AIG in 2007, as the worldwide deputy Director of the Credit Life profit center, based in New York with management oversight, business development and strategy responsibilities for the Credit Life and Bancassurance business across 60 countries. Eric holds an MBA degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, French, and is proficient in German.
