Balázs Rózsa (1974) Doctor of Medicine, physicist, neuroscientist. He earned his PhD in 2007, working in the Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (IEM HAS), but he has been the leader of a group developing two-photon microscopes for 3D imaging since 2005. He is the founder, executive and scientific director of Femtonics Research and Development Ltd., and a group leader at IEM HAS and Péter Pázmány Catholic University since 2010. He holds 44 international patents and his breakthrough results are regularly published by high-impact scientific journals (Nature journals, Science, Neuron). In 2016, his team received a consolidator grant from the European Research Council (ERC), which was the first Hungarian R&D project displayed on the website of the European Union. He received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2017, in the category of Development and Improvement of Quality of Life.
