Hungary to spend EUR 800 million on tourism development
Schanda stressed that:
The government wants Hungary to become the leading tourism area of Central Europe by 2030, added the state secretary.
Schanda noted that the designated tourism development budget gives the cabinet the opportunity to carry out 26 projects at Lake Balaton. This will facilitate the modernisation, renewal and expansion of the bicycle path around the lake, develop ports, build or renovate trekking routes, leisure parks, lookout towers, and have other developments in the area of the Balaton Highlands National Park.
The government official also said the cabinet is committed to supporting recreational sport activities to make Hungary a healthy sports nation. In scope of the Széchenyi 2020 programme, nearly 40 sports clubs, sports organisations and sports associations to popularise sports among the population. As a result, they expect to bring some 400,000 Hungarians closer to regular physical exercise, and doing sports, he added.
