István Boldog, deputy leader of the parliamentary group of Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party, asked his fellow MPs to “do everything to prevent the next Pride March from taking place publically." He made his remarks during the general debate about a new bill on the amendment of legislation on media services.
“[...] we should protect our children from sexual and other aberrations," he said, asking his fellow MPs to “do everything to prevent the upcoming Pride March from taking place publically".
Well, it’s a march. It usually occurs on streets. It kind of takes away the essence of a march if you do it at home. Between walls. By yourself. In that case, it may be called pacing at best. It sure is healthy, though. If you’re agoraphobic, for instance. Or if you’re behind bars. Great exercise. Let’s hope MP Boldog - by the way his name means ‘Happy’ or should we say ‘Gay’? - has no plans involving bars and tight spaces for members of the LGBTQI community!
“Everyone can do whatever they want sexually between four walls, that doesn’t bother me. You have a debate not with me, but with nature," he went on.
“But if you are so concerned about the interests of children, please make sure they cannot see half-naked people on the streets of Budapest. [...] If anything triggers bad things, bad thoughts in a child, I think this is it," he added.
I’ve listened to this Fidesz bloke. Well, this is ridiculous. I attended the Pride March last year and no one was half-naked. By the way, if a kid sees a half-naked person, so what? It is not Pride that has a bad influence on children, rather than people like him

This year’s Pride March will be held on 6 July and departs from Kossuth tér.
The aforementioned bill was submitted by Zsolt Semjén, Deputy Prime Minister of the junior governing party, the Christian Democrats (KDNP), and propaganda minister Antal Rogán.
Under the bill, the cap on advertisement time would be based on periods in the day rather than set on an hourly basis, which means television channels would be able to cram as many ads in prime time as they want, and leave periods with the fewest viewers relatively ad-free.
The largest broadcasters would not have to create morning news programmes, and the proportion of tabloid news within a news programme would be raised to 35% from the current 20%.
Also, and this may be the oddest proposal of all, particularly as it comes from a member of the Christian Democratic Party, regular TV channels would be allowed to broadcast porn, which is prohibited under current legislation. Fornication may be aired, though, only if the channel in question encrypts it and viewing may be possible only by entering a code in order to avoid children watch what they shouldn’t.
Homophobic statements are not alien to members of the ruling Fidesz party.
László Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly, said last month that “normal homosexuals" try to adapt and do not want equality, and there is no difference between paedophiles and gay people who demanding the right to adopt.
Gergely Gulyás, the minister leading the Prime Minister’s Office, concurred with Kövér, saying that it is not the children’s interest that are observed in both cases.
