Director of ACER, the EU’s Energy Regulatory Agency, since January 2020. First head of the global Clean Energy Ministerial Secretariat hosted at the IEA; previously Vice-Chair and Governing Board member of the IEA. Several positions in the Danish government, starting as a diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with a posting at Denmark’s Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels, moving to climate and energy policy, culminating in a position at the Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate as Deputy Permanent Secretary responsible for energy policy. Married to Christina, a dentist, with whom he has four children.
