Job title: Senior research fellow
Since 2004, she has been involved in studying the algae of Lake Balaton, investigating the dynamics and interactions of not just planktonic algae, but also those inhabiting the sediment surface. Her primary focus of research revolves around exploring the diversity, distribution, and role of the tiniest photosynthetic organisms known as picoalgae in aquatic environments, including Lake Balaton, Lake Fertő, and soda lakes. She earned her PhD in 2011 from Eötvös Loránd University, specializing in hydrobiology. Currently, her research focuses on issues of production biology and microbial ecology within aquatic environments, supplemented by her previously started molecular genetic work. Head of the Hydrobotany and Microbial Ecology Research Group of HUN-REN BLKI, secretary of the Limnology Department of the Hungarian Hydrological Society.
