Alíz Markovits has previously worked in the business sector in finance and foreign trade, and has held management and expert positions in a number of Hungarian and international projects. As Head of Development at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Kőszeg, she gained experience in planning, implementing and monitoring regional development projects. Her main task was the implementation of the KRAFT concept developed at the Institute, "Creative City - Sustainable Region” – using the example of the city of Kőszeg.
She is honorary associate professor of the University of Pannonia.
Since February 2020, she has been in charge of the coordination of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture programme as Chief Executive Officer, responsible for the preparation of the 116 municipalities of the Bakony-Balaton region for the programme year, for the implementation of the cultural programme and the related infrastructure investments.
