István Wachter

Mr. Wachter, who holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering, joined the emerging team of Mercedes-Benz Kecskemét during the build-up phase of the factory in 2010, bringing a wide range of industry experience and knowledge, which he gained at major Hungarian automotive companies (OEM’s) in the years prior to that. In his various engineering, and later managerial positions in the sector since 1995, he was responsible for leading teams of up to several hundreds of people, and coordinating a number of successful international projects. He also has earned an MBA degree in addition to his engineering degree in these years. In his first years at Mercedes-Benz, he worked in the assembly shop of the Kecskemét plant, being responsible initially for the fields of final assembly and drivetrain assembly, and later for the performance of the interior and dashboard assembly departments. He spent five and a half years working in these positions and was deeply involved in the production starts of three new models “Made in Kecskemét”: the B-Class, as well as the CLA and CLA Shooting Brake. In the past 3 years, he has been working in quality management, starting in the field of supplier quality management up until May 2018, when he became responsible for the product maturity and product approval during preparation periods for the serial production of new models. In his current positions, he coordinates the work of a large staff of engineers and technicians, while working closely with the central development and project management departments of the Daimler AG.
