László Harmati is currently Deputy CEO of Erste Bank, before that he was CEO at FHB Kereskedelmi Bank Zrt. from 2002. He was Head of the Regulatory Department at the Hungarian National Bank, before that he had been Head of the Entrepreneurship and Regulatory Department of the Ministry of Finances for two years. He studied at Leuven Catholic University (Belgium, 1993), majored in finance at Budapest University of Economics (1995), and won a scholarship to study in the institutions of the German Marshall Fund (USA, 2000). He has been Vice-President of the European Mortgage Federation since 2003, and a member of the Economics Workgroup. His publications, technical translations, studies, and study materials appeared in financial, economics weeklies such as Bank & Tőzsde and Figyelő; in journals such as Bankszemle, later Hitelintézeti Szemle; in a series of study materials published by NBK, and in several publications of different book publishers, such as Panem and Helikon.
