Bence Gerlaki, Deputy State Secretary Responsible for Economic Development Strategy, Outward Direct Investment and Trade, holds a bachelor's degree from BME and a master's degree in International Economics and Business Administration from Corvinus University of Budapest.
Mr. Gerlaki began his professional career in 2016 at the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, where he, among other tasks, worked on Hungary’s monetary policy and structural funding (development of the Growth Bond Programme). Subsequently, he worked at the Office of the Prime Minister’s Chief Economic Adviser.
Since June 2022, Mr. Gerlaki, as Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry for National Economy (previously: Ministry of Economic Development) has been in charge of Hungary’s economic development strategy, the state-backed capital funds and the supervision of the EXIM Bank. From 1 January 2024, he has also been responsible for trade. In the course of his work, he has been involved in the decision making processes behind a number of economic policy decisions and has frequently published on economic development and monetary policy.
