Following a 23 year career in investment banking, Gary has spent the last 10 years engaged in the student housing sector, having led businesses in the UK, US and mainland Europe.
In 2009, he established the UK business of Campus Living Villages, a Sydney based international specialist in on-campus student housing partnerships with 50,000 beds under operation in Australia, New Zealand and the United States. As CEO of the UK business, Gary oversaw its growth to a top five UK player with a portfolio of 15,000 beds in on campus partnerships as well as in the direct let sector.
In 2015, he was seconded to the Houston, Texas based business of Campus Living Villages in the US, with a portfolio of 18,000 beds in ownership and operation across ten US states. In that role he led a restructuring and repositioning of the US business, returning to the UK at the end of 2017.
From 2018, Gary has been the CEO of MILESTONE Living, part of the Vienna based Value One Group of Companies, which builds, owns and operates large scale purpose-built student housing across mainland Europe. MILESTONE currently has properties in operation and under development in Austria, Hungary and Portugal, with its first property opening in Germany in 2020.
