Ákos Beöthy earned his Master’s degree in economics and international relations in 2001 from Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration. He worked for the international section of business daily Világgazdaság from 2000, in the position of editor from 2003 and as deputy head of foreign desk from 2006. As a winner of the Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship, he spent 6 months in the United States reporting for The Philadelphia Inquirer in 2008. He was managing editor of the monthly magazine of the municipality of Terézváros from 2011 (for 1.5 years), when he has also started to deal with energy issues at the newly established Institute for Public Policy Research. He earned a post-graduate diploma in energy economics from Corvinus University of Budapest in 2013; he wrote his thesis about the global trends of unconventinal natural gas production and their possible effects on European and Hungarian markets. He has joined REKK in 2014.
