András Gelencsér was born in 1966, in Kisvárda, Hungary. He obtained his MSc in chemical engineering in 1990, received his PhD degree in 1995, and became doctor of science in 2002. In 2019 he was elected as member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Currently he is professor and rector at the University of Pannonia, Veszprém, Hungary, and the head of the HUN-REN-PE Air Chemistry Research Group, of the National Laboratory for Climate Change, and chair of the Regional Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His research field is atmospheric chemistry, specifically atmospheric aerosol science. He published a monograph titled "Carbonaceous Aerosol” with Springer. He has published 91 scientific papers, received more than 7100 independent citations, his Hirsch-index is 43. He is an internationally recognised atmospheric scientist, cooperated with several highly renowned international institutions, and was principal investigator of several EU-funded research projects.
