Hungary Magyar Telekom keeps buying treasury shares

Portfolio
In order to enable the operation of the incentive programme based on a new remuneration policy, Hungary’s Magyar Telekom acquired own shares on the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) every day last week, it turned out from a statement the company published on Monday.
Magyar Telekom currently holds over 1.43 million treasury shares, largely as a result of last week’s purchases. In total, the company bought 1.39 million treasury shares on each of the five trading days last week. When MTel made its purchases, these contributed nearly one fifth of the transaction volume with MTel shares on the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE).

Under current regulations, the acquired and the existing treasury shares of MTel may not exceed 10% of the group’s registered capital, which translates into 104,274,254 treasury shares of HUF 100 face value each.
