After a reduction in the price of petrol on Monday, fuel prices will not be changed on Wednesday (5 June), holtankoljak.hu reported on Monday.

After a HUF 2 per litre reduction in the wholesale gross list price of petrol today, fuel prices are set to remain on hold on Wednesday, fuel price tracking site holtankoljak.hu reported. Accordingly, we should find the following average prices at the pumps today and at least until Friday:

  • 95-octane petrol: HUF 597 /litre
  • Diesel: HUF 603 /litre

Petrol currently costs 4.7% (HUF 27) more than at the end of last year, while diesel is 1.7% (HUF 10) more expensive.

HOWEVER, COMPARED TO THEIR RESPECTIVE PEAK PRICES THIS YEAR, PETROL IS HUF 53 (-8.2%) PER LITRE CHEAPER AND DIESEL COSTS HUF 58 (-8.8%) LESS.

As of 29 May, the price of a litre of diesel was again higher than that of petrol. The differential turned negative on 19 April (HUF -3) and at one point petrol was HUF 14 more expensive than diesel. The gap widened further to HUF 6 today.
