Fuel prices to be raised in Hungary

Portfolio
Hungarian energy group Mol is to raise the wholesale gross list price of both petrol and diesel on Wednesday, fuel price racking site holtankoljak.hu reported on  Monday.
Benzin

The wholesale gross list price of petrol will be raised by HUF 5 per litre and the price of diesel will go up by HUF 2 per litre as of Wednesday (20 March). Accordingly, we should find the following (average) retail prices at the pumps two days from now:

  • 95-octane petrol: HUF 624/litre
  • Diesel: HUF 643/litre

After the price hike the price of petrol will be HUF 54 (9.5%) higher than at the end of 2023, while the price of diesel will be HUF 50 (8.4%) higher. Comparing prices to the end of 2022 may make us nostalgic (petrol was HUF 15 per litre cheaper and diesel cost HUF 70 per litre less), but looking further back is not a pleasant experience.

This is how Hungarian fuel prices compared to prices in neighbouring countries five days ago:
