Santa Claus to bring lower diesel price to Hungary on Wednesday

The price of petrol will be kept on hold, while the price of diesel will be lowered on Wednesday (6 December), fuel price tracking site holtankoljak.hu reported on Monday.

The wholesale gross list price of gasoline (Euro 95) will be left unchanged, while the price of diesel will be reduced by HUF 6 per litre on Wednesday(6 Dec), holtankoljak.hu reported. Accordingly, we should find the following average prices at petrol stations: 

  • 95-octane petrol: HUF 577 /litre
  • Diesel: HUF 598 /litre

Compared to their mid-May lows, the price of petrol is now only 4.0% or HUF 22 per litre higher and the price of diesel is up 10.3% or HUF 56.

However, compared to their respective peaks on 20 September, we see a 12.8% drop (HUF 85) in the price of petrol and also a 12.8% (HUF 88) reduction in the price of diesel.

Here are Hungarian fuel prices as of 29 November in regional comparison. Note that these are average prices taken from European databases, with the HUF values calculated at an EUR/HUF exchange rate of 380.17.
