Hungary is donating half a million doses of AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine
Péter Szijjártó said Hungary is helping by the donation to speed up the vaccination campaign in Bangladesh and contribute to making people around the world safer. The minister added that Hungary has millions of vaccines in its warehouses, which will allow everyone to receive the first, second or even third shot.
"In addition, we can now help others", he added, stressing that this is a global pandemic, "and the faster the vaccines are administered in other countries of the world, the safer we are". Especially in the countries where many people live and from where many people travel to Europe. "That is why we are providing the second largest vaccine assistance ever, this time to Bangladesh," he stressed.
Hungary announced earlier this month that it would donate all vaccines approaching expiry and unlikely to be used here to countries that need them.
On 8 December, there were 1.657 millon doses of AstraZeneca vaccines in storage.
Previously, 200,000 doses of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine had to be destroyed due to expiry.
