COVID-19: 91 dead, 677 new cases in Hungary

Hungarian authorities diagnosed 677 people with coronavirus infection over the last 24 hours, taking the total to 792,386. 91 people have died of coronavirus-related infections yesterday; the death toll is up at 28,693 and Hungary continues to lead global rankins in terms of COVID-19 deaths per one million population (2,977). The vaccination programme continues, with over 4.3 million people inoculated with their first dose and over 2.5 million with their second.

With 677 new cases the total number of coronavirus infections in Hungary rises to 792,386. This is the lowest number of new daily confirmed COVID-19 cases since February.

91 people have died of coronavirus-related diseases over the past 24 hours. The death toll is up at 28,693. SARS-CoV-2 is the deadliest in Hungary in the entire world, with 2,977 deaths per one million people.

There are 3,384 people with COVID-19 in hospitals (up from 3,353), with 394 of them on ventilators (down from 403).

The official government portal (koronavirus.gov.hu) reported 1,376 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday morning, while NOT A SINGLE TEST was officially performed on 7 May. Interesting. Must be a technical error that they will correct later on. Or not.

Up to date, 4,305,775 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with 2,503,575 inoculated with their second dose. Restrictions have been eased further as of today. Students in the 5th-8th grades and middle-schools returned to in-class learning, and sport facilities, swimming pools, gyms and ice rinks have also been re-opened to those with immunity certificates.
