COVID-19 in Hungary: 1,160 new cases on Sunday

Hungarian authorities confirmed 1,160 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Sunday, increasing the total since last March to 377,655. The death toll rose to 13,155 after the disease claimed the lives of 65, mostly elderly or chronic, patients, the official government website said.

There 1,160 new cases in Hungary in the past 24 hours. This fits the trend of recent days, and th seven-day moving average of new cases has increased slightly.

The number of recoveries is now at 281,839, while the number of active cases is down to 82,661.

There are currently 3,717 coronavirus patients in hospital, with 295 of them on ventilators. The former figure rose by 139 in a day, not very bright news after the gradual decline of recent days.

Over the past 24 hours, 65 coronavirus patients succumbed to the disease, most of them elderly or with underlying chronic diseases. The total number of fatalities in Hungary is now 13,155. The seven-day average has stopped decreasing and now stands at 82.

The number of tests applied yesterday was just 9,720, so the ratio of positive results jumped to 12%.

289,042 people have been vaccinated in Hungary so far, and 107,592 of them have already received the second shot as well.
