COVID-19 in Hungary: 1,576 new cases, 98 fatalities on Thursday

The pandemic situation in Hungary is stagnating or maybe even “turning slightly worse”, Prime Mnister Viktor Orbán said on public radio Friday morning. Authorities confirmed 1,576 new cases yesterday, there were 98 fatalities, 3,638 people are in hospital and 302 of them are on ventilators. The number of people vaccinated is 264,530, and 92,733 of them have already received the second shot.

The number of new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours was 1,576, which means there has been no improvement in recent days.

Authorities tested 18,693 people yesterday, with a positivity rate of 8.5%.

The number of fatalities remains high and shows a rising trend in recent days.

The number of severe cases treated in hospital only decreased by 10 yesterday, while the number of people receiving artificial ventilation rose by 4.

So far, 264,530 people have received the first shot of the coronavirus vaccine and 92,733 the second one, the official government website said.
