COVID-19 in Hungary: 1,652 new cases on Wednesday

Hungarian authorities confirmed 1,652 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Wednesday, increasing the total since last March to 371,988. The death toll rose to 12,832 after 93, mostly elderly or chronic, patients succumbed to the disease.

The number of new cases was the highest since mid-January. The number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began is now 371,988.

There are now 3,648 coronavirus patients in hospital, with 289 of them on ventilators. The latter figure is rising steeply and is the highest for the past two weeks.

There were 93 fatalities yesterday, bringing the total death count to 12,832. Although the seven-day moving average indicates stagnation, yesterday’s figure was outstandingly high compared to previous days.

So far, 249,687 people have been vaccinated, and 84,452 people have received their second shots.
