A total of 1,410 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Hungary over the past 24 hours, which is more than in the previous days but still fits into the slowly descending trend of the last few weeks. The 7-day moving average has dropped.
The number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals dropped by 169, and while this may be seen as good news, this figure includes the 98 people that have died. By the end of Wednesday, the number of patients requiring artificial ventiltion dropped by eight.
4,049 Hungarians have received their COVID-19 jab over the past 24 hours and 1.4% of the population have been vaccinated by the end of the day. On Wednesday, Hungary received another vaccine shipment enough for the inoculation of 36,000 people. The next shipment is due only next Wednesday.
As regards vaccinations per 100 people, Hungary is behind Slovenia (2.1), Austria (1.7), and Romania (1.6) in the region, while it is on a par with Poland (1.4), and ahead of Slovakia (1.3), Croatia (1.3) and Czechia (1.0).
Israel is the absolute leader in the world with 33.9 of 100 people already vaccinate against COVID-19, followed by the United Arab Emirates (21.9), Bahrain (8.4), the United Kingdom (7.5), Seychelles (7.1) and the United States (4.8).
Authorities tested 15,577 COVID-19 samples yesterday, largely the same volume as a day earlier (16,005), but the positivity rate jumped to 9% from 6%.
