COVID-19 in Hungary: less than 3,000 new cases on Wednesday
With the 2,982 new cases in the past 24 hours, the total number of confirmed cases in Hungary since March rose to 291,549. Today’s figure fits the trend of recent days, with the seven-day moving average now dipping below 4,000.
The number of fatalities was 157 yesterday, again comprising mostly elderly or chronic patients. The total number of coronavirus deaths is now 7,538. Although slightly higher than the previous day’s, there is also a small decline in the seven-day average.
The number of active cases has dropped to 197,057 with a daily decrease of 189, marking the first time since November there has been a drop in active case numbers.
More importantly, the trend of the past 14 days is declining. This, incidentally, also indicates that the official coronavirus statistics are completely flawed, as most adults recover from the disease within 14 days.
This means the number of active cases cannot be three times as high as that of new cases over the past two weeks.
The number of tests applied in the past 24 hours was 18,362, with a 16.24% positivity rate. The number of tests continues to fluctuate and was again lower compared to a peak of 70,000 earlier this week.
There are currently 7,522 coronavirus patients treated in hospital, 117 fewer than 24 hours earlier, with the number of people in severe condition and receiving artificial ventilation decreased by 1 to 573.
