COVID-19 in Hungary: 4,440 new cases, 96 fatalities
Hungarian authorities confirmed 4,440 new coronavirus (COVID-19) infections on Thursday, increasing the total since March to 165,901. The death toll rose to 3,568 after the virus claimed the lives of 96, mostly elderly or chronic, patients, while 38,074 people have recovered from the disease. The number of active cases is 124,259. There are currently 7,512 coronavirus patients in hospital, with 604 of them on ventilators.
The number of new infections was 4,440. This indicates that the spread of the virus has not accelerated further, although testing capacities may have hit another limit.
The number of fatalities was 96, apparently confirming the same as the daily figure has been hovering below 100 for several days.
The total number of infections rose to 165,901, while the death toll stands at 3,568.
There are currently 7,512 coronavirus patients in hospital, with 604 of them on ventilators.
Authorities applied more than 100,000 tests in the past 24 hours, an outstanding record, with a positivity rate of just 4%.
