COVID-19: New daily confirmed cases over 5,000 in Hungary
4,232 new cases were diagnosed on average in Hungary over the past seven days, and the 5,318 new COVID-19 cases diagnosed in the 24 hours until Saturday morning is outstanding even in this comparison. This was the first time authorities registered more than 5,000 new infections in a day.
107 coronavirus patients have succumbed to the disease, well over the seven-day average of 87 and marking a new all-time high. This was the second time more than 100 people died of coronavirus over a 24-hour period.
There are currently 5,612 COVID-19 patients in hospital, with 405 of them on ventilators. Both numbers doubled in about two weeks.
24,847 patients have recovered and the number of active cases is 77,739, twice as many as two weeks ago.
Budapest accounts for 25% of active cases, 29% of the deceased and 27% of recovered patients.
Over the past seven days, the highest number of new cases were confirmed in Budapest, Pest county and Győr-Moson-Sopron county.
Over the past 24 hours, 22,321 COVID-19 samples have been tested and nearly 24% of them came back positive.
