COVID-19 in Hungary: new cases, daily fatalities rise to new high
There were 3,989 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours in Hungary, a new daily high.
The number of coronavirus patients treated in hospital rose to 4,767, 348 of whom are receiving artificial ventilation. Both numbers are also a new record.
Most of the 84 victims yesterday were elderly patients with chronic underlying diseases. The total death toll is now at 1,973.
Authorities carried out 14,620 tests on Monday, more than the previous day but still less than last week’s daily test numbers. The ratio of positive tests was higher than ever at more than 27%.
Based on data from individual counties, the virus is spreading quickly in the entire country. Győr-Moson-Sopron county has now taken the lead in per capita infections, passing previous leaders Vas and Nógrád counties.
