The 73 new cases represent a very slight slowdown, and the spread of the virus maintains an even pace if we exclude group infection in retirement homes. However, the daily case number has been on the rise for the past four days, so it will be interesting to see if the trend continues to the end of the week.

Seven of the eight victims yesterday were elderly people with chronic diseases, while the eighth was a 53-year-old man with no known underlying cause.

Based on confirmed infections, the virus is spreading fastest in the central region of Hungary. Half of the new cases registered yesterday were in Budapest and 80% were in the capital or Pest an Fejér counties. Overall, 71% of all infections have been in this central region so far.
