Vodafone Hungary Chairman György Back to retire
Beck joined mobile carrier Vodafone 12 years ago in 2007 as Chief Executive and he occupied this post until 2011. Between 2009 and 2011 he acted as Chairman-CEO and from 2011 he was only Chairman of Vodafone Hungary’s Board of Directors.
“I’ve just turned 65 and I feel that after 40 years of work I need to take it easy," he said. “As of May, I’d like to focus on my voluntary activities and spend more time with my three children and two grandchildren," added Beck.
Even after his retirement from Chairman of Vodafone’s BoD, Beck will remain Chairman of the John von Neumann Computer Society (NJSZT), contributing to the preparation of the Hungarian population to digitalisation and the use of new technological solutions. He will also continue his ‘Management and Leadership in Practice’ course for the students of the FAKT College for Advanced Studies at the Corvinus University of Budapest. He will keep teaching and mentoring at the School for Executive Education and Development (SEED), of which he is also a founder and member of its Board. Beck will also remain Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Day One Capital Financial Investment Fund, as well as Co-President of the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers (VOSZ), Co-President of the Hungarian Water Polo Federation (MVLSZ) and member of the Hungarian Olympic Committee (MOB).
