COVID-19 in Hungary: patient numbers down to October levels
The number of new cases in the past 24 hours was 1,190, increasing the total since last March to 796,390. The pandemic continues to recede in Hungary as the seven-day rolling average has decreased even with yesterday’s relatively high case number.
The number of tests applied was nearly 19,000, with a 6% positivity rate.
The virus claimed the lives of 71 people in the past 24 hours, increasing the total to 29,041. The declining trend of the seven-day rolling average remains unbroken.
The number of coronavirus patients in hospital is also decreasing, as is that of people receiving artificial ventilation. As of yesterday, there were 2,612 people in hospital, with 338 of them on ventilator.
The number of coronavirus patients requiring hospital care has not been this low since last October, while the number of people on ventilator drooped to mid-February levels.
The number of people vaccinated is now 4,483,598 and 2,626,857 of them have already received both doses.
In total, more than 104,000 doses of various vaccines were administered yesterday, including 63,000 first jabs. Hungary has now started vaccinating children between 16 and 18 years of age, which contributed to yesterday’s unusually high figure. Some 45.9% of the population has received at least one dose and 26.9% have received both.
